About the event

What a wonderful way to spend a fall day.  3 connected asphalt trails just an hour and a half drive from your home.  The Original Bike Taxi will be with you your entire ride.  We will carry your gear, tools, your lunches, as well as provide support if needed.  We'll meetup with you at different points on your ride, so you can pedal your day away and not worry about a thing.

Our van holds 6 guests with bicycles and your extra gear.  We will pickup guest at Winnetka Metra Station at 630 am and Wilmette Station at 640 am.  We should arrive at the trail head in Chesterton by 8 am to begin your ride.

This is your day off so you decide how fast to ride, when and where to stop, and what places to visit.  The Original Bike Taxi will wait at different predetermined locations to all riders pass by.

Take some time and look at each trail and choose points of interest you would like to see.  Nothing is written in stone but 4 pm would be a good time to leave Calumet City to head back to Wilmette/Winnetka.

Cost for this adventure is $50 each, with a 4 rider minimum.  That includes all transportation expenses.  The Original Bike Taxi is fully licensed and insured to carry passengers and bicycles but our insurance does not cover any injuries while outside the vehicle.

The Prairie Duneland Trail (10.3 miles) begins in Chesterton Indiana.  Cycling southwest, the trail meets up with the Oak Savannah Trail (9.5 miles), then cycle west to the Oak Ridge Prairie County Park where the trail meets up with the Erie Lackawanna Trail (this event covers about 10 miles of this trail).  From here, cycle northwest through Hammond to the trail end in Calumet City.

Information of the three trail and the prairie can be found through these links.
